A compromise $740 billion defense bill that includes a pay hike for military personnel and programs at Nevada installations was passed by the House on Tuesday following bipartisan negotiations to push the legislation to President Joe Biden's desk before year's end.
The legislation had been held up in the Senate, but appeared to be headed for passage there after negotiations over changes that include how the armed services prosecutes and oversees cases of sexual harassment, assault and rape.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) and Congresswoman Kim Schrier (D-WA-08) introduced the Supporting Health Care Providers During the COVID-19 Pandemic Act, a bill to prevent Medicare payment cuts to providers. Without this legislation, cuts would go into effect next month, threatening to close practices and interrupt care. This bill will support providers and keep the health care system stable in this pandemic, allowing patients to receive the care they need.
Every month since July, Las Vegas resident Lori Muñoz receives around $300 for her daughter as part of the federal child tax credit. She spends it on school clothes, school lunches and other expenses that may come up.
