WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford joined Reps. Dina Titus (D-NV-01) and Susie Lee (D-NV-03) and Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) and Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) to introduce the Southern Nevada Economic Development and Conservation Act. The legislation will protect over 2 million acres of public land for conservation and recreation while allowing Clark County to develop affordable housing and responsibly plan for population growth projections. This legislation would be the largest conservation bill in Nevada history.
WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) and Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) introduced the Unemployment Insurance Technology Modernization Act. This bill that would make federal investments in state unemployment insurance systems to prevent fraud and address the widespread delays and technical difficulties that job seekers have encountered while filing for unemployment insurance.
Horsford wants to create a basic federal computer program states could then customize for their own needs.
Rep. Steven Horsford of Nevada is sponsoring a bill to help states upgrade computer systems that process unemployment insurance claims.
Horsford, a Democrat, said it became apparent at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic that some states needed to modernize and upgrade "neglected" computer systems.
