The Smike Act, which takes inspiration from a Nevada law passed in 2017, aims to address this problem by demanding transparency from manufacturers of diabetes drug insulin. The price of insulin had skyrocketed by an alarming 197 percent, leading to financial strain for many.
I will be speaking with healthcare advocates about the skyrocketing costs of prescription drugs, particularly in light of new attacks on the Affordable Care Act. During a roundtable discussion, we will focus on the significant financial burden faced by Nevadans when it comes to purchasing necessary medications.
Any attempt by this administration to defund or sabotage the Affordable Care Act is simply wrong, and I am determined to fight against it every step of the way. First and foremost, it protects individuals with pre-existing conditions, ensuring that they have access to the healthcare they need.
