LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Three members of Congress from Nevada have joined a push to raise the threshold for reporting winnings on casino slot machines.

Currently, when a casino player wins $1,200 or more on a slot machine, the machine must be taken out of service temporarily and the player must fill out a W-2G tax reporting form, per federal regulation.

In November 2021, Congressman Steven Horsford voted for the bipartisan passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, a landmark law that will invest more than $4 billion in Nevada to create good-paying union jobs, rebuild Nevada's economy, improve roads, public transportation, and water infrastructure, and expand access to high-speed internet.
As Nevada recovers from the pandemic, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will help to reduce inflation and lower costs for Nevada families by reducing supply chain backlogs and improving the flow of goods and services.
NORTH LAS VEGAS, NEV. — Congressman Steven Horsford (D-NV-04) is urging local non-profit organizations to apply for $30 million in Community Recovery Grants funded by the American Rescue Plan. Every month since July, Las Vegas resident Lori Muñoz receives around $300 for her daughter as part of the federal child tax credit. She spends it on school clothes, school lunches and other expenses that may come up.
"It's just been a huge help in that area," Muñoz said. "You always think, ‘oh it's some extra money.' It's never extra money. … Kids always need, there's always something that needs to be bought."
Nevada scored a victory this week when the U.S. Department of Energy announced it was embracing a policy of requiring state and local approval for development of any nuclear waste storage site. That move, combined with staunch opposition among Nevada's leaders to the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository, amounted to a reprieve from any immediate prospect of reviving the atrocious facility.
