LAS VEGAS - Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) announced the introduction of legislation to address vulnerabilities in our unemployment systems highlighted by the pandemic. The Guaranteeing Unemployment Assistance and Reducing Deception (GUARD) Act, H.R. 8661, supports the aggressive work of federal and state agencies, as well as law enforcement, are doing to recover pandemic unemployment benefits that were paid to criminal organizations.

WASHINGTON – In response to continued right-wing threats to Nevadan’s personal liberties, Congressman Steven Horsford today voted to enshrine marriage equality into federal law. The Respect for Marriage Act will officially repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a defunct and discriminatory statute excluding same-sex couples from marriage under federal law. This legislation will also codify new protections ensuring that no married couple can be denied protections and benefits under federal law based on sex, race, ethnicity or national origin.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Steven Horsford (NV-04) joined Congresswomen Susie Lee (NV-03) and Dina Titus (NV-01) in introducing H.R. 8415, the Las Vegas Wash Program Extension Act. This legislation was introduced in the Senate by Sens. Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Rosen (D-NV) and will provide additional funding to support erosion control projects and critical infrastructure around the Las Vegas Wash.
